Men's Antique Massive CHRONOMETER Wristwatch with Helical Hair Spring $700(sold) History: The Detent or Chronometer Escapement is a type of detached escapement, and was most commonly used on Marine Chronometers, although some precision watches during the 1800s also used it. The early form was invented by Pierre Le Roy in 1748, who created a pivoted dentent type of escapement. The invention was then generalized in 1783 by Thomas Earnshaw with his standard spring-detent escapement (John Arnold created a variant, patented in 1779, as did Ferdinand Berthoud, but the Earnshaw design was the one generally adopted) and used until mechanical chronometers became obsolete in the 1970s. Die Neuentwicklung basierte auf dem Urofa-Kaliber 61, von dem Teile des Räderwerkes, der Hemmung und des Zeigerwerkes übernommen wurden. Das Uhrwerk des Kal. 60 ist ein 12 1/2 liniges Werk mit 15 Steinen, das mit und ohne Stoßsicherung gebaut wurde. Dieses Werk war wegen seiner robusten Bauart, der guten Gangleistung sowie der leichten Montage und der leichten Reparatur in Fachkreisen sehr beliebt. Durch die Austauschbarkeit aller Werkteile ist die heutige Restauration der 50 Jahre alten Werke, vorausgesetzt Ersatzteile sind noch vorhanden, kein Problem. Die Abb. zeigt eine ganz frühe GUB Kal. 60 mit einem ganz seltenen 7-steinigen Werk, von dem nur 300 Stück im Jahre 1953 gebaut wurden und das eine wirkliche Rarität, noch dazu in diesem fabrikneuen Zustand, darstellt. Der Anker und das Räderwerk sind hier im Gegensatz zum 15-steinigen Werk in eingedrückten Messingbuchsen gelagert. Die Uhrwerke des Kal. 60 tragen alle eine Werknummer und das Markenlogo der GUB. Die Werknummern sind nicht dokumentiert und leider ist bisher eine Deutung auch in Glashütter Fachkreisen nicht möglich. Auch die Bedeutung der Bodennummern ist leider unklar. Vielfach wurden in den 50´er Jahren die Werke in gegossene und verchromte Messinggehäuse mit gedrückten Böden eingeschalt.
